An artisan (from French artisan, Italian artigiano) is a skilled craft worker who makes or creates material objects partly or entirely by hand.These objects may be functional or strictly decorative, for example furniture, decorative art, sculpture, clothing, jewellery, food items, household items and tools and mechanisms such as the handmade clockwork movement of a watchmaker.Between 1802 and 1804, under the reign of Napoleon, a ninearch metallic bridge for pedestrians was constructed at the location of the present day Pont des Arts this was the first metal bridge in Paris.The engineers LouisAlexandre de Cessart and Jacques Dillon initially conceived of a bridge which would resemble a suspended garden, with trees, banks of flowers, and benches.
